Jeffery M. Leving, visual artist and prominent Chicago attorney, presented one of his many original pieces of art work to Alderman Robert W. Fioretti on May 19, 2013. The art work “In the Reeds” was previously displayed at the River East Art Center,  March 2013. It was inspired by emotions surrounding the Elian Gonzales case, of which Jeffery M. Leving played a crucial role. The piece is to be displayed at City Hall.

Leving’s visceral, gestural, abstract expressionist pieces tap the unspoken psychological content of struggle and transcendence, combining forms and figures with primitive markings and surreal spaces, all bound together by a serene compositional economy. His paintings reflect the spiritual struggle that men face trying to find their footing in the contemporary world in a way that honors their sense of self-worth, as well as the needs of children to be cared for.

Jeffery Leving has also written three books; the most recent How to Be a Good Divorced Dad, has been commended by President Obama and Cardinal Francis George. For more information about Jeffery Leving’s cutting edge work, call Jennifer Whiteside at (312) 296-3666
